This year, Avenches in Switzerland will host the FEI Eventing European Championship. Haras di Pin, in France, will host the 2023 edition. After much consideration, it has been decided to discard Boekelo in the Netherlands and Montelibretti in Italy, allocating this year’s Eventing European Championship in Avenches.
“Following last year’s postponement of the Tokyo Games, the FEI had originally cancelled European Championships in all three Olympic and Paralympic disciplines so that the focus could remain on the Games in 2021, but our community encouraged us to review that decision and we listened to those voices.” said FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez during a videoconference earlier this week.
Eventing is one of the three Olympic sports amongst all FEI disciplines. It can easily be considered the most complete competition, often referred to as an equestrian triathlon. Testing speed, stamina and jumping ability, riders need to excel in all fields and prove their knowledge of their horses.
The 2021 edition of the FEI Eventing European Championship will take place from the 23rd until the 26th of September in Switzerland. There are still no confirmed dates for the edition in 2023.
Also, the FEI Jumping Ponies Trophy Final 2021 will take place in Mechelen, Belgium. They will host the event from the 26th to the 30th of December. Kronenberg, in the Netherlands, will host the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Youth Final 2021 from the 23rd of September until the 26th of September.
