Tenth Longines Global Champions Tour venue in A Coruña, Spain

After the unforeseen cancellation of the New York leg, the tenth venue of the Longines Global Champions Tour was held this weekend in the Spanish city of La Coruña (Casas Novas), instead of the New York venue.

The event normally held in Galicia is a CSI4* on the calendar, from July 14 to 16, and extraordinarily this year it has been a CSI5* of the Longines Global Champions Tour. So, in 2023, two venues of the biggest international show jumping championship have been held in Spain.

In this Grand Prix of the CSI5* of Casas Novas (1.60 m.), there were thirty-seven great combinations. Nine of them completed the initial course without penalties and after a super exciting tiebreaker, five of them got a double zero score.

The long-awaited victory went to the Irish Bertram Allen riding "Pacino Amiro". That after 8 years, gets a new victory in the Longines Global Champions Tour. The podium was completed by the Greek rider Ioli Mytilineou with "L'artiste de Toxandra" and the Dutch Harrie Smolders riding "Monaco N.O.P.", respectively.


Maikel van der Vleuten, who finished ninth in the race with "Beauville Z N.O.P" remains in first place on the circuit with 231 points. Christian Kukuk remains in second place with 180 points, while there was a change in third place: Simon Delestre with 171 points.

In the Global Champions League, Paris Panthers won for the second time this season and climbed to second place in the ranking thanks to the victory in A Coruña, dropping Madrin in Motion to third.

The podium was completed by Scandinavian Vikings who climbed to seventh position and Riesenbeck International to consolidate its first position in the ranking. The fourth position of St. Tropez Pirates also moved them up to fourth place in the overall ranking.
