Olivia LaGoy-Weltz rode Lonoir to a personal best score to give the American team partnership victory in the Global Dressage Festival World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday. Yvonne Losos De Muñiz of the Dominican Republic, a non-league rider, on Aquamarijn placed second.
Olivia of Newmarket, Virginia and the 17-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding scored 81.545% to wrap up the first of seven international events during 12 weeks of the Global circuit at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The previous best score for the pair that have been on Nations Cup teams on both sides of the Atlantic was 80.495% at this same show grounds a year ago and just weeks before the coronavirus pandemic closed down horse sports.
Yvonne and Aquamarijn, a 16-year-old KWPN mare, scored 78.165%% for runner-up in their campaign for a start at the World Cup Final scheduled for Gothenburg, Sweden the first week of April depending on the Covid-19 restrictions.
