From May 12 to 14, the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will host the fourth event of the 2023 season, after those already held in Doha, Miami and Mexico City, and the 112th edition of the Madrid Grand Prix of show jumping on the green track of the Club de Campo.
As every year, the capital of Spain has a new appointment of the International Show Jumping Madrid - Longines Global Champions Tour Madrid 2023. The competition held in Madrid has been integrated for many years in the best world show jumping circuit. It is one of the oldest and most important events in the Spanish sport. In this edition, more than 10,000 spectators are expected to enjoy the competitions, and also commercial and leisure areas that will make this visit a perfect experience.
In Madrid we will be able to enjoy the best riders of the world equestrian world, in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Madrid, will compete personalities such as the Swedish Henrik Von Eckermann, leader of the FEI ranking, who also has several Olympic medals, the French Julien Epaillard, who already came first in Madrid in 2021 and who last year achieved nothing more and nothing less than 75 victories and is considered number two in the world behind the Swede.
A total of 124 riders will participate in this edition. And of course, the best Spanish rider, Eduardo Alvarez Aznar will also compete and hope to achieve a great position in his native country. Last year he achieved nothing more and nothing less than 75 victories and is considered the number two in the world behind the Swede.
As far as the Global Champions League is concerned, the two rounds will be played on Friday the 12th. After the first three rounds, Riesenbeck International, the German team, is in first place, followed by the Spanish team, Madrid in Motion. The 16 teams that make up the league will be present, expectant to see if Madrid in Motion can finally get their first victory in their city. Six editions of the Madrid circuit have been played and London Knights is the only team that has been able to repeat its triumph twice, a team that is currently not participating.
