Michael Jung wins at the Grand Prix of Mannheim

May 05, 2021

This past 4th of May, Michael Jung and his horse Fischer Chelsea by Check In won first place. They completed the CSI4* challenge with a flawless round in 41.85 seconds. The 1.60m Die Badenia Grand Prix of Mannheim MVV had home riders dominate as seven German riders finished in the top ten.

Fourteen horse and rider combinations made it to the jump-off out of 36. From these, Jung was the fastest, stopping the clock just 0.01 seconds faster than his compatriot Maurice Tebbel on Don Diarado (from Diarado x Lord Lancer). In third place, Douglas Lindelöw from Sweden took third place with Casquo Blue (from Chacco-Blue x Carthago Z).

The event is part of the Mannheim Standard Show and is the top competition in an event that lasts several days. The Grand Prix of Mannheim receives a CSI4* qualification, meaning it is the second highest difficulty in show jumping events.

Kendra Claricia Brinkop finished fourth riding Kastelle Memo (from Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Cicero Z) with a time of 43.46 seconds. This shows how tough competition was and how close they all were to the podium.

This week we can also expect the CSI4* happening in Valkenswaard and the CSI4* in Montefalco, Italy.
