Top 10 riders that will participate in the CHI Geneva 2021

Dec 09, 2021

Today the CHI Genève returns until the 12th of December, representing the fourth and final stage of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping of the year. This show is well awaited by all members of the equestrian community as all of the current top 10-ranked riders as well as 17 of the top 20 will participate.

After his remarkable victory in the Rolex Grand Prix of CHIO Aachen, Daniel Deusser, current world number two, will be attending CHI Geneva with Killer Queen VDM. At the pinnacle of international indoor show jumping, the event will prove to be a tough test that will culminate with the Rolex Grand Prix.

Who to look out for during the CHI Genève 2021

Firstly, eyes will be focussed on current world number one, Peder Fredricson. The rider has won both the Longines Global Champions Tour 2021 and Global Champions League with his team Valkenswaard United. Also, he won the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Team gold and is looking incredibly competitive towards the end of the Rolex Grand Slam.

Also from Sweden, Henrik von Eckermann has played a significant role in the Swedish team victory during the Summer Olympics. Current world number 3, von Eckermann has recently won the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona together with King Edward.

The first and only rider (yet) to have won the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping is British rider Scott Brash, who is looking forward to reclaiming his victory in the CHI Geneva Rolex Grand Prix. As a veteran rider in Rolex Grand Prix events, he will bring his top horses to attempt a new victory in the competition.

Olympic Individual gold medallist, Ben Maher, is competing with Explosion W in the CHI Geneva. As the winner of the Rolex Grand Prix at Royal Windsor Horse Show, the rider is hoping to round off his exceptional performance this year with this Rolex Grand Slam Major win.

World ranked number four and winner of the last edition of the Rolex Grand Prix at CHI Geneva 2019, Martin Fuchs wants to retain his title in Switzerland. He has recently won the European Championships Team gold and Individual silver together with his horse Leone Jei.

His compatriot, Steve Guerdat, will also make an appearance in the event after his splendid win at the Spruce Meadows Masters. Until recently, Steve Guerdat used to be the world’s number 1 rider. He is looking forward to winning in Genève, the place where he started his international career at the age of 16.

Also in the competition, Kent Farrington, Rolex Grand Prix winner in 2017 at CHI Geneva, will be competing for this year’s title. He will be joined by compatriots Laura Kraut and Jessica Springsteen, both of which had several successes including the Team victory in the Nations Cup and CHIO Aachen World Equestrian Festival.

Max Kühner, winner of this year’s The Dutch Masters 2021 will also make his appearance in the CHI Geneva 2021. The show celebrates its 60th edition as well as the 20th anniversary of the IJRC Rolex Top 10 Final. Riders will compete for a total prize money of 2.4 million Swiss francs.
