Soon horses and horsepower will be the centre of action at the Aachen Soers. The World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, is kicking off today with the collaboration of Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, Allianz and Turkish Airlines.
Mercedes-Benz has been a partner of the CHIO Aachen since 1954 and this time 60 vehicles of the automobilistic brand will be available to ensure the smooth running of the logistics. The President of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV) said: “Together with Mercedes-Benz we continually find ways to carry on writing the history of the show, which is more sustainable than ever this year,”
On other notes, rider Marcus Ehning will be retiring the 18-year-old gelding from the sport at the CHIO Aachen 2021. Pret a Tout was 12 when Marcus Ehning took over the reins. He claims immediately he knew she was a special horse.
In 2016, 2017 and 2018 the pair took the gold medal with the team in the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup. Also, in 2018 the pair claimed victory in the Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen, and later on that same year the pair also won in the Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva.
“He is very well-behaved, indeed quite a calm chap at home,” -Marcus Ehning.
Likewise, Isabell Werth will be retiring her soul horse Bella Rose in CHIO Aachen 2021. Bella Rose will be competing one last time, and the fact this 17-year old horse has been 13-time winner of the Deutsche Bank Prize at the CHIO Aachen makes it even more special.
World class sport competitors will be facing each other this year at the CHIO Aachen. The anticipation mood is exceptional, and Daniel Deusser, world’s number one did not hide his enthusiasm. This is his chance to finally make his dream come true and win in the Rolex Grand Prix.
Daniel Deusser has come second twice, narrowly missing out on the first spot. “I want to be on there,” grinned Deusser when asked if he wants to have his name eternalised on the legendary’s winner board.
The Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping is a collection of Rolex Grand Prix happening in four different venues. These are: CHIO Aachen, CHI Géneve, The Dutch Masters and the CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters. Right now, the CHIO Aachen and CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters are taking place at the same time.
The best show jumping, dressage and equestrian shows will take place at the World Equestrian Festival, starting later today. The Show Director, Frank Kempermann announced an exceptional field of competitors including all of the individual Olympic gold medallists. The show-jumper Ben Maher is travelling to the Soers with “Explosion”, possibly the best show-jumping horse in the world.
Also, dressage Olympic gold medallist Jessica von Bredow-Werndl will compete on the German team in the Lambertz Nations Cup. The dressage rider has recently won the gold medal in the team FEI Dressage European Championship and also just became the individual European champion.
