Andre Thieme and "DSP Chakaria" became the eleventh German rider to win the historic Grand Prix of Rome. The 48-year-old reigning European champion, who won gold in Riesenbeck in 2021; was participating for the first time in Italy and thus the first time at the CSIO in Piazza di Siena. Thanks to this victory, André Thieme also received the special prize Master d'Inzeo 2023.

In the decisive round, with thirteen participants in the field, the podium was completed by Sweden's Jens Fredricson, second, and Brazil's Stephan de Freitas Barcha, third. Germany thus rises to twelve successes at the Rome GP, achieved with eleven different riders. Andre Thieme achieved the fastest time of the five riders who completed the two rounds without faults.

And the fact is that the Germans are achieving great results in equestrian sports. For example, in the framework of the Longines Global Champions Tour 4 Grand Prix have been disputed and three of them have been won by German riders. Not only that, but it is the country with the highest representation in the top 10 of the Championship ranking with three riders.
