The Casas Novas facilities, in Galicia, will host for the fourth consecutive year one of the qualifiers of the World Cup, the last in Spain this 2021, after its passage through the Madrid Horse Week.

The best national and international riders and horses will compete between December 10 and 12 to improve their international ranking and score better in view of the World Cup final to be held in Leipzig, Germany, in May 2022.

After two years of inactivity due to the pandemic, Casas Novas will once again bring together the elite of the equestrian sport of show jumping. This is a competition with the highest category, five stars, which will score for the World Cup Jumping in this circuit supervised by the FEI.

The riders to focus on

Among the riders we find all the members of the London Knights team, the winners in Prague of the Super Cup Final of the Global Champions League: Olivier Philippaerts, Emily Moffit and Nicole Philippaerts.

They are joined by Denis Lynch, current number 1 in the competition with 37 points. The Irish rider has overtaken Kevin Jochems at the top of the competition, so they will face each other in Coruña. Moreover, the 2019 winner in La Coruña, Maikel van der Vleuten, will be defending his title in Spain.

Simon Delestre, winner of the Verona leg joins the Coruña challenge and will compete alongside Dexter Fontenis Z and Tinka's Hero Z, saving his winning horse Hermes Ryan for another occasion during the Western European League.

In addition, Julien Epaillard, winner of the previous stage of the World Cup at Madrid Horse Week, and current number 6 for the World Cup Jumping will attend Casas Novas to improve his position and fight for the title in Leipzig.

In the international environment, Marcus Ehning, Pieter Devos and Eric van der Vleuten will also participate. On the national scene, the famous riders Sergio Álvarez Moya and Eduardo Álvarez Aznar will be present along with other Spanish riders who will demonstrate their power and skill in Casas Novas.

The competition at Casas Novas

The riders will demonstrate their skills during three days and eleven tests in Galicia. All the tests of the CSI5* show jumping competition will count towards the Western European League ranking for the Longines FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale) World Cup.

The three most difficult show jumping events are the Marqués de Riscal Trophy on the first day, the Longines Grand Prix on Saturday night and the Longines FEI World Cup Grand Prix, Caixabank Trophy, which will be held on Sunday. The riders will compete for a total prize money of 300,000 euros in the last competition of the event.

Horse and rider will face a first circuit composed of double combinations and triple bars before advancing to the jumpoff, in a standard Table A competition where the fastest (without faults) wins it all.
